Letter to our patients

Dear Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub Patient,

We are writing this letter to you to inform you of the coming together of Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub and Brighton Health and Wellbeing Centre. We would like to make you aware of changes to our GP services which will ensure you continue to receive high quality primary care now and in the future. The Partners at Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub and Brighton Health and Wellbeing Centre are to come together to form a single organisation from 1 July, while retaining both surgeries. They are confident that they will work well together, with both practices having a strong patient focused ethos.

There is no need for patients registered at either surgery to do anything, your needs will be taken care of automatically as part of the process.

You will be able to continue seeing your current clinician in the same location but will also have the added option to access services at partner sites, including Benfield Valley and Burwash road surgery.

The two main practices on Old Shoreham Road in Portslade and Western Road in Hove will remain open and patients will still have access to the same services and doctors they have always seen. As part of the merger, we have applied to reopen a branch site in Hangleton, formerly known as Burwash Medical Practice. Burwash, Benfield and Brunswick will all be branch sureries of the new collaboration. The coming together of the practices means GPs can make more efficient use of space, share facilities, while delivering more services. This means the practices will benefit from extra resilience and cover for staff sickness and annual leave, as well as better cover for clinical and administrative staff. The new single organisation will also provide patients with access to a wider range of services and sites.

We understand that you may have suggestions or questions, and we would like to hear from you, please visit our websites and read the FAQs or feedback any concerns, or use the contact details below:

  • By post marked “Merger” to either of the following addresses:

  • By email with “Merger” written in the subject heading to the following email addresses:

  • By calling us on

BHWC 01273 772020

Yours sincerely,

The partners at Brighton Health and Wellbeing Centre
