We understand you may have suggestions or questions and we would like to hear from you, there is a suggestions and questions form at the bottom of the webpage (link above) or you can contact the surgery as always at benfieldvalley.healthcarehub@nhs.net, please include the word Merger in the subject title.

We have changed the opening hours of our phone lines to 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm as of Monday 17th January. The surgery will also be closed between 1-2pm. You can still contact us via Klinik Access on our website here: Bvhh.co.uk anytime. You can request medication via Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) by calling 0808 164 7678 or online.

Message to our patients – update on the COVID-19 booster programme

 

Across Sussex the NHS and its partners are working extremely hard to roll out the COVID-19 booster vaccination programme to our communities.

 

All adults are eligible from Monday 13 December, and you will be able to book via the National Booking System from Wednesday 15 December.

 

You can book your booster for 3 months from the date of second vaccine, and you can access the National Booking System to book the appointment from 2 months.

 

We are working at pace to increase the availability of appointments so that there are plenty of options for people on the National Booking System. Some local vaccination services may will also contact patients directly.

 

New appointments are being added every day across our vaccination services. We have been offering more than 80,000 appointments a week and in the last two weeks we have increased the number of available appointments by more than 10,000 a week. Further availability will come online from Wednesday 15 December.

 

We will be working with all of our sites to take further steps to increase what they can offer again, including opening later and on more days.

 

All of these appointments will be added to the National Booking System and so we encourage everyone who is aged 18 and over, is yet to have their booster and who is approaching 3 months from your second vaccine to use the National Booking System to arrange your appointment when you are able to do so.

 

In terms of any planned appointments with <insert name of the GP practice>, there are no changes at the current time and everyone should attend your planned appointments as normal. If we need to make any changes, we will contact you directly.

Please be aware that until further notice patients will be unable to book face to face appointments online.  They will however be able to phone GP telephone consultations online in the usual way.

Please also note that we are limiting the amount of PAPER prescription requests we are receiving into the surgery, please use the following service to order your medicines:

Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) - A new and convenient way to order your repeat prescription. 

Telephone 0808 164 7678 (Freephone) call Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm (excluding bank holidays)

 

All it takes is a simple phone call that you can make from the comfort of your own home - there's no need to go into your GP practice or pharmacy.

Who can use this service? Anyone can use the POD service.

 

Why use this new service? This service hopes to reduce prescription waste by helping to ensure patients order the medication they need, when they need it. Ordering your repeat prescription will be a quick and simple telephone call. You can discuss your medication requirements and we can alert you if a medication review is needed.

Who will you be talking to? The NHS POD service is provided, on behalf of your GP practice, by NHS High Weald Lewes Havens and Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group. Your call will be answered by a dedicated, experienced and fully trained prescription co-ordinator.

How does the NHS POD work? You will be asked which GP practice you belong to and if you consent to your medical record being accessed to process your prescription request. You will then be asked to confirm your identity by giving personal details such as name and date of birth. Each item on your repeat will be discussed and only those needed, will be ordered.

Why are we offering this new service? Our aim is to ensure that patients are receiving the correct quantity of medication needed in a timely manner, to reduce the amount of prescription waste in our area. Unused prescription medicines cost the NHS millions of pounds every year.

I am happy with my existing service. Do I have to change? You will still be able to order your prescriptions online or in person through your GP practice, but will no longer be able to order through the pharmacy. In order to reduce prescription waste we believe that patients need to take responsibility and control of their own medication needs. You can still use the same pharmacy to supply your medicines and any delivery arrangements should still remain in place.

How can patients help reduce prescription waste? Check your medication cupboard before ordering more, order prescriptions when you have 7 days of medications left and let us or your surgery know if you have stopped taking any of your medicines.
